Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home has been open for over a year and I have been going since the beginning. Over the time I have tried most of the milkshakes and a lot of desserts. My favourite has always been the cheeseburger toastie and the chocolate mudshake.

I love the chocolate mudshake. It's a chocolate milkshake with a liquidised brownie and espresso in. My auntie lets me have the espresso in it but when I'm with my mum I have to ask for it without. :(

I usually go twice a month but this time was a special treat because it was my last of primary school. When we arrived the menu had changed so I decided to try something new. I went with my auntie (RA) and my mum (BA).

I'd seen chilli dogs on Man Vs Food so I decided to give it a go. The spicy sweet potato fries are delicious so I asked for a side of them too. BA took a lot more time to choose but she eventually decided to try the burger also with sweet potato fries. A new addition to the menu was the macaroni cheese so BA asked for a small side portion so she could try it. RA had been there the week before and had the salt beef bagel and she thought it was so wonderful that she decided to have it again.

BA ordered the burger. It was topped with cheese, dill pickle, house relish and tomato. The purple stuff on the side is red cabbage slaw, which she loves.

Very cheesey Mac n Cheese.

Salt beef bagel with crispy tortilla strips on top of the beef. RA asked for no mayo.

My chilli dog!

The sweet potato fries did not last very long.

Our food arrived quite fast and we dug in. We all loved our food, but unfortunately I couldn't finish the Chilli dog, there was just so much food.

The only criticism we had was that the salt beef was a bit fatty. So RA had to cut it off before she could eat it.

Man, it was good!

I didn't finish, so much food. So sad :(

A new milkshake had been added to the menu so I got to try the Oreo milkshake and it was really nice. You could taste the Oreos inside and not just the milk.

Even though I was full I still had space for dessert. It would be a crime to go to Home Sweet Home and not have the cookies straight from the oven! They take 10 minutes to cook and you can have them with a glass of milk. RA chose the apple pie fudge sundae.
The cookies were gooey and delicious and the sundae looked really nice. RA said that it was gorgeous.

Cookies fresh from the oven with a glass of milk. Perfect for dunking in!

Yummy, gooey, chocolatey.

Apple pie fudge sundae.

I really enjoy the food and experience at Home Sweet Home. The staff are really helpful and friendly and you feel like they really want to make you happy while you're there.

I would rate Home Sweet Home as a whopping 5 out of 5 which means that Home Sweet Home is one of the best restaurants in Manchester and is absolutely AMAZEBALLS!

Thank You Mummy!

This just a short post to say thank you to the lady who has made this blog possible. Without my mum I would not have been able to go to some of the restaurants or festivals. She has been extremely supportive and I am very lucky. This blog is costing her a fortune!

Me, Mum, Micah

Thank you mummy, I love you!

My First Food Challenge

Yesterday I went to Slattery in Prestwich.

Slattery is a chocolate experience on three floors. It has a cake and chocolate shop at the bottom, a café in the middle and a chocolate school at the top.

Yummy cupcakes.

Tubs of chocolate covered sweets, cakes and biscuits.

Chocolate lollipops, chocolate bars, chocolate chocolate chocolate...

More chocolate cakes.

Cakes and biscuits.

As a treat for my birthday my auntie took me to Slattery for the famous Slattery's chocolate cake challenge. The challenge is a huge piece of chocolate cake with two chocolate dishes filled with ice-cream and whipped cream and two tubs filled with milk and white chocolate sauce and a hot chocolate and white and milk chocolate coins.

First they bought out my auntie's sandwich, my grandma's scone and tea and my hot chocolate. I was too excited to remember to take pictures of the other food but it looked really good. I couldn't wait to see my chocolate challenge.

I didn't really need to look at the menu, I knew what I was here for!

The dining room was packed and noisy but as my chocoalte challenge was bought out the room got quiet and everyone was looking at the cake with a big sparkler coming out of it.

IT WAS MASSIVE.

I took my first bite and the cake was wonderful. It was very chocolaty inside and outside. It was made up of layers of chocolate cake and chocolate fudge frosting. I eat the cake with the cream and ice cream to help it slide down easier. I tackled the big chocolate coins next.

10 bites in...

30 bites in and the chocolate hit me!

I started getting full within the first 10 bites but I carried on. It was a hot day to drink a hot chocolate so I asked for a glass of water to help.

By 30 mouthfuls I thought I was going to faint, I felt dizzy and I really wanted something savoury.

I carried on with small bites of cake and small sips of water but I still had the hot chocolate to drink.

I can do it! Let me carry on!

I felt like Adam Richman on Man Vs Food. I can understand what that guy goes through for food challenges. It looked like there was so much food still left. I felt like I was back at the beginning.

I drank my hot chocolate in one go. It was unbelievably delicious. It was like drinking melted chocolate.

Then I knew I was done. Food had won!

I took the leftovers home.

Cutting the cake for the chocolate fudge cake.

A bucket of chocolate fudge cake.

Massive kitchen.

Bernard was the original Mr Slattery and started the bakery.

Chocolate objects.

They have a baking ingredients section.

Slattery is known worldwide for its wedding cakes and has supplied them for lots of famous people!

This is a wedding cake! No really!

My auntie wants this cake.

 Decorating kitchen.

Chocolate cigars. I wouldn't recommend setting this on fire!

These chocolate foods look so real.

I thought they had a Dominos stand!

I wish I bought one of those.

And dessert... a sundae made of chocolate.

chocolate fish and chips.

Chocolate cake pops.

I have one thing to say to the famous Slattery's chocolate cake challenge: I'll be back!
